Celebrating the 130th Anniversary of the To-o Nippo Press and the 65th Anniversary of Aomori Broadcasting Dialogues through Paintings, Between France and Japan: From the Hiroshima Museum of Art Collection
In honor of the 130th anniversary of the To-o Nippo Press and the 65th anniversary of Aomori Broadcasting, the Aomori Museum of Art is holding an exhibition featuring superb works of art from the collection of the Hiroshima Museum of Art. Modern French art, modern Japanese Western paintings, and Japanese paintings will be displayed with a focus on impressionist pieces.
The Hiroshima Museum of Art was founded in 1978 with the desire to pray for peace and took up the motto “For love and peace”.
Its collection,made up of excellent works of modern French art, modern Japanese Western paintings, and Japanese paintings, is highly acclaimed both in Japan and overseas and can truly be called a world treasure.
A variety of styles are on display in this exhibition. There are works by impressionists such as Monet, Renoir, and Degas and pieces by the artists of the School of Paris. Included as well are works of modern Japanese Western Painting which blossomed under the influence modern French Painting starting with Seiki Kuroda and works of Japanese painting by the likes of Taikan Yokoyama and Shoen Uemura. The paintings are introduced by themes such as “Farming Villages”, “The Human Body”, “Landscapes”, and “Paradise”.
