2025 Aomori Prefectural Museum Satellite Exhibition Stones!? We collected them

Stones were formed over Earth’s long history, and the geology and stones that make up the land convey the various past events of the natural world to the present day. Furthermore, fossils of plants and animals trace past natural environments, biota, and biological evolution.

On the other hand, stones have long been familiar to humans. We have usetilized them as tools utilizingfeaturing useful properties and characteristics for our daily lives. Moreover, the strange shapes, beautiful patterns, and mysterious landscapes created by the forces of nature—such as rivers and waterfalls—catch our eyes, becoming objects of appreciation and worship, as well as subjects and materials for works of art.

This exhibition introduces the characteristics of stones, stone materials, and stone worked structures found in Aomori, as well as the relationship between stone and people’s lives, from diverse perspectives.
