Reimagined by Aomori Museum of Art: The ballet Aleko
The four backdrops for the ballet Aleko were created by Marc Chagall (1887 – 1985), a leading artist of the 20th century, for performances of Aleko by the Ballet Theater (now American Ballet Theatre).
They fulfilled this role for the final time at a performance in 1968, and are now exhibited in the Aleko Hall at the Aomori Museum of Art.
Now, after more than 50 years, the backdrops for Aleko will once
again be brought to life as part of the set design.
