Notice of re-opening of the Aomori Museum of Art

The Aomori Museum of Art is reopening on Thursday, May 21st, 2020 in accordance with the following procedures.

1  If you are planning to visit, we ask for your cooperation with our Requests and Policies to Prevent the Spread of COVID-19, listed below.

2 Currently, only our collection exhibit will be opened to the public. We will announce our plans to open our scheduled temporary exhibition as soon as a decision has been made.

3 In order to prevent infection by close contact, the outside path to the Aomori Dog will be closed for the time being. Visitors wishing to see the Aomori Dog may still purchase an entrance ticket and view it from through the glass windows in the collection exhibit.

4 Kids’ room will remain closed for the time being.

5 Closed days will remain the same as in our regular schedule, but our opening times will be changed 9:30am to 17:00pm for the time being.
The museum may close again or take other measures depending on the spread of infection in Japan. Please refer to our homepage for the most recent information.

Requests and Policies to Prevent the Spread of COVID-19

Requests for Museum Visitors

  • Please wear a mask if you are visiting the museum.

  • Please take your temperature before visiting the museum and refrain from visiting if you have a fever of over 37.5゜c, are feeling unwell, or are experiencing any other cold symptoms. (Staff may ask you to leave if you are coughing or displaying cold-like symptoms inside the collection.)

  • Please wash your hands thoroughly. Liquid soap is available in our restrooms, and disinfectant is available at the entrance and in our exhibition rooms for visitors to use.

  • When purchasing a ticket, please wait at the designated location.

  • Please maintain a fixed distance from other museum patrons during your visit. Also, please be quiet when visiting and try to limit your conversations with other patrons inside of the exhibit as much as possible.

  • In order to prevent excessive crowding within the museum there may be times where we limit the number of patrons who can enter at once.

  • If you are planning a visit for a group of 6 or more, please contact us ahead of time (017-783-3000). Also be sure to separate into small groups while viewing the exhibitions.

Aomori Prefecture ask to cooperate with a “new lifestyle”,for example keeping social distancing,wearring masks,washing hands frequentry.

Museum Policies

  • Disinfectant has been placed throughout the museum.

  • All staff members will be wearing masks and are encouraged to thoroughly wash their hands and use disinfectant. Additionally they will be working to check their temperature daily before coming into work and to carefully monitor their health.

  • The museum’s doorknobs, elevators, hand rails and other surfaces that visitors may touch often are being diligently disinfected by alcohol and other disinfectants.
